I returned to Stanford campus this afternoon to attend a presentation by the chief technical officer of Tesla Motors as part of the Energy Seminar series by the Woods Institute for the Environment. His former academic advisor's introduction recalled a passionately active Energy Engineering student who built multiple electric vehicles and even outfitted his advisor's garage with solar panels. He was an extraordinary power to behold - one of those students, explained his advisor, whose way you quickly get out of to avoid being run over. This insight into someone who has developed innovative, responsible energy technology was a reminder that, to have an extraordinary life, one must live extraordinarily. |
