SUNDAY
I miss the Stanford holiday season of last year. Kimball was so cozy, and my friends were so close. My cheeks were all rosy, and our hall smelled like toast. (OK, I admit, that last part was made up purely for the sake of rhyme, but rhyme should never be forsaken. joking face) But, really, I miss it. I don't know how, but I think that was the most content I've ever been. So peaceful. So perfect. So miss it. frowning face

Why are friends and family telling me that they don't understand how Google fits into my plan? As if I have a plan! laughing face

SATURDAY
Not long after waking up today, my mind decided to race... with itself.

I can't ask him out! How and when would we see each other? We're from two/too different worlds... It would be difficult... Difficult enough that it'd be a relief if he declined the invitation. But what about the power of love? Is it not the great wayfinder? If we are to be, won't we? Everything need not effortlessly "fall into place" to indicate fate. Who am I to proclaim dead something that has never really been given a chance to live? Mystery will remain and regret will develop wherever an attempt goes unmade. One can't possibly receive the answer he hopes for if he never asks the question.

THURSDAY
Jack Wang has a blog?!? Yay! He defied convention by not posting song lyrics or anything similarly cliché at the end of his entry today. Inspired by his rebelliousness, I will forgo the customary proclamation of thanks on this turkey day and, instead, post my Christmas list. "Aren't you a little old to be drafting a Christmas list, Ben," you ask. And, in turn, I ask you: How else is Santa gonna know what to get me?!? joking face

I don't wanna start announcing new page designs, as I am not that kind of blogger. If Dud3k.com's look is gonna change, then >>wham<<, it'll hit ya without warning. However, today's entry features a couple tweaks to the "Tunage" section I wish to explain: 1) Making Amazon.com purchases via my new "buy" links will net me a few shillings, and 2) 99% of my "song of the day"s have been the tune to which I listened more often than any other on that day, but to provide a glimpse into why these tunes received the day's highest rotation count (and for the reasons behind the other 1%), the "me" addition will afford some insight. I've retroactively applied these changes to this month, so, in the rare instance that I fall behind in my entries joking face, I encourage you to peruse my tunage reasons.
QUOTABLE: Oh! That idiotic "baby boy" song they've been playing on the radio so much is Beyonce!!! This explains everything I've been wondering about my life. Well, almost... OK, no, pretty much nothing... Except who's responsible for the "baby boy" song. - Chris L

TUESDAY
Sorry for this long entry, but it's about time MJ got some tough lawyers:

"Michael Jackson… is not going to be a piñata for every person who has financial motives - for every person who thinks that they can get, as the lawyer for the charter company said today, 'We had a lottery ticket, and we thought we were going to do something with it.' This is not the lottery. This is this man's life. This is his family's life. These are scurrilous accusations... We will land on you like a ton of bricks... if you do anything to besmirch this man's reputation - anything to intrude on his privacy in any way that is actionable. We will unleash a legal torrent like you've never seen. We, I believe, will put XtraJet out of business for this outrageous act... Michael Jackson is NO longer going to be somebody who is on the receiving end of every scurrilous accusation known to man. There are people out there speaking who claim to know Michael Jackson... [but] who have never laid eyes on him. The press puts them on unblinkingly. That is not going to go on anymore; we will demand that... any person who comes out shows their bona fides before they're allowed to just repeat these scurrilous accusations. And we will meet any accusation that's made with every legal avenue. And we will not sit back and allow him to be abused... That's what's actually going on here; if anybody doesn't think, based upon what's happened so far, that the true motivation of these charges and these allegations is anything but money and the seeking of money, then they're living in their own Neverland." - Mark Geragos, attorney to Michael Jackson

MONDAY
Grumpy this morning. Mega-rare. Too little sleep. Gotta fix that. Made for my first tough morning at work. frowning face It didn't help that a bunch of great people around me had their seats reassigned, leaving me alone in a sea of strangers. Well, they told me flexibility was a valuable quality when I signed up for this gig. Time to buckle down! Gonna miss my pals, but they're just around the corner, and I've got important work on which to focus! Yo Joe! smiling face

If what I am experiencing right now was a scene in a movie, how would I expect to see it play out? Am I completely ridiculous to adopt that as the question I constantly ask myself in my attempt at a life without regrets? Does living life as if it is a movie denote an encouraging idealism, sheer insanity, or something in between? I better figure this out before I try to dodge bullets.
QUOTABLE: Isaac: Hey, I got an idea! How about you write me a 3-page (single-spaced) report on [Lost In Translation] and email it to me? But instead of focusing too closely on the movie, you should write about the lasting effects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill.

FRIDAY
I did it! The 'oulda is no more! Bus Boy missed his bus again this morning, and I pulled an "in the name of love" maneuver to finally get to meet him!!! grinning face The conversation was brief and awkward, but one can't expect everything to happen like it does in movies! laughing face Anyway, as if purposefully skipping my normal bus didn't make it obvious enough, my interest was beyond evident during our interaction. (We'll, it's hard not to appear interested when you, without reason, go out of your way to introduce yourself to a complete stranger.) I even made it a point to look in his direction as I boarded my bus. When I looked, I caught him watching me from the line to board his bus to Foothill College. (Yay, he's not a high schooler! LOL! I am SO bad at guessing ages!) So, in terms of interest, I did everything to express mine except ask him out, which I will do sometime next week, if he still seems interested after he has recovered from my out-of-the-blue introduction. Ha ha! smiling face

THURSDAY
I want to take this opportunity to apologize for my bloated entries of late. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with long entries, but mine were previously rarely as lengthy as they have become, so I just wanted to apologize for the recent, unexpected flood of text. I personally prefer blog entries to be the concise textual equivalent of snapshots of what one experienced (events, thoughts, etc.) in a day. Be it a small collection of close-ups or a single, sweeping panorama, this general concept should prevail over detailed execution. Under this provision, my blog entries should capture the moment like a photograph, but not relate it using a number of words anywhere near the thousand each picture is said to be worth. Hmmm... This entry rings up to a total of 136 words... That feels about right. smiling face

WEDNESDAY
Someone told me that they found yesterday's entry a bit overdramatic. Great! I was actually trying to write it as a dramatic piece. So, it was my attempt at dramatic tone (entirely as a fun, creative exercise) in recounting an innocuous situation that made it seem like I was overreacting. But maybe a dramatic reaction was warranted... I'm starting to wonder if I should consider yesterday's episode a sign that I should start to let go of any hope of meeting Bus Boy.

After a day's time, I realized that I should have done what I would expect to see only in movies: I should have skipped my bus to sit down next to him. It was the perfect opportunity to finally meet him, and I let it slip through my fingers! Arggg! mad face Yes, it would have caused me to have been 20 minutes late to work, but they understand that traffic can be bad in the morning. Seeing as I take the bus and have never been late before, I should be allowed a few minutes, but it didn't even cross my honest, dutiful mind. So, instead of performing an astonishing "in the name of love" maneuver usually reserved for movies, I committed what now seems to be a horrible 'oulda! frowning face This 'oulda is bound to grow bigger each day that Bus Boy has to rush to catch his bus, which is most days, and which makes me wish him to miss it once again, as that unfortunate situation now seems to be my only chance...

How does the saying go? Hindsight is always 20/20? It sucks. disappointed face

Bus Boy missed his bus this morning, presenting an opportunity for me to introduce myself! But just as suddenly as it had been granted, fate snatched the opportunity back; the driver of my connecting bus returned with his coffee just in time to leave on schedule. Unable to afford missing my bus, I boarded the 8:30AM VTA40. I sat down as it pulled away from the curb, and we left him - beautiful - waiting for the next VTA23.

There's not much I'm allowed to tell anyone, including how many other people (if any) are starting the entry program along with me. "I'm not at liberty to say" is a phrase I've already come to appreciate. joking face You should really only be curious as to what I'll be doing there, anyway, which I can tell you: I will be approving/rejecting AdWords ads according to guidelines that are essentially in place for quality control, and which are primarily available to read online. Google's dedication to quality and integrity is one of the most impressive things about the company; they truly care about the user experience, which is perfectly aligned with my values and goals, so I am very excited. grinning face
